One of the great things about WordPress is all the plugins you can choose from. All the plugins I use are free except for one. See below for my list:
This is the only plugin I use that I have paid for as I couldn’t find anything that was even remotely close in terms of gathering email addresses. It offers a lot of flexibility and I would highly recommend it. You can place an opt-in box where you like so in your sidebar or in the middle of a post or at the bottom. You can also split test different opt-in boxes to see if wording, colours, etc. have an effect. If you want to take a look at it in more detail please read my blog post and/or follow my affiliate link to their website where they have additional information. They offer a refund policy in case you’re not happy with it but I doubt that will be necessary.
I’ve used All in One SEO Pack and it’s an excellent plugin but WordPress SEO by Joost de Valk is the Ferrari of SEO plugins. It is also more complicated as it has a LOT of settings. If you have the time its worth checking out to take your website SEO to the next level. I just want to add that All in One SEO Pack is still a very capable solution.
WP Super Cache
Speed is important not only in terms of Google but for your visitors. If you site is slow to load, Google will penalise you by listing faster loading sites over yours in search results. Also, if the website experience isn’t great for your visitors, they will leave. There are a number of plugins that cache your WordPress website and I use this one as I find it’s very efficient.
